Gong Zhu is a classic trick-taking card game played with a standard 52-card deck for four players. The objective is to score positive points while avoiding penalty points. The game derives its name from the “pig” – the Queen of Spades (Q♠), which carries a significant penalty of 13 points. Players take turns playing cards in an anticlockwise direction; the player who plays the highest card of the leading suit collects all four cards and earns the points associated with any penalty cards in that trick. The game continues until one player reaches a score of -1,000 points. Strategic card management is essential – knowing when to play high cards and when to discard safely can determine the outcome of each hand.
